Firefighter Matt Hiatt is dead after his truck collided with the foundation of an overpass, bursting into flames, on the Santan Freeway in Chandler, Arizona

At approximately 10 AM Friday Phoenix firefighter Matt Hiatt was driving his truck in Chandler, Arizona on the Santan Freeway when his vehicle slammed into a concrete foundation of the Dobson Road overpass and burst into flames. Hiatt did not have a chance to exit his vehicle and was found dead at the site of the accident. Investigators are still working the scene, and it is not yet known why Hiatt crashed his vehicle.
