It was about 8:00am when a fire truck containing four firefighters was driving from the Mountain Home Fire Department to a crash in the Carriage Park Community of Hendersonville. The truck was driving on a road that was not only steep, but covered in black ice, and slipped off of the roadway where it rolled down the mountainside, narrowly missing rolling into Lake Bowen. Brackett sustained the worst injuries, which included a broken collarbone and other internal injuries.

Sharon Deppner, 74, was killed in a collision involving a semi truck and two vehicles on Highway 2 about five miles west of Airway Heights, Washington at about 8:41 a.m. Two cars were eastbound Highway 2 approaching Deep Creek Road when one of them lost control at the same time that a semi was traveling westbound in the same area. One of the vehicles, a pickup, lost control because of snowy road conditions.

The driver and a passenger in the dump truck, a 37-year-old man and 24-year-old man respectively, were both seriously injured and taken to Hillcrest Hospital. The driver of the armored car, a 25-year-old woman, was also taken to Hillcrest with serious injuries, but her passenger, a 35-year-old man, sustained only minor injuries and was taken to Geauga Hospital.

A chain-reaction crash over a North Texas lake involving as many as 15 vehicles is expected to keep Interstate 30 over Lake Ray Hubbard closed well into Friday afternoon. Texas Department of Transportation officials said multiple vehicles were involved in the crash on the I-30 bridge over the lake, prompting the closure of both directions of the highway at Dalrock Road. Police reports indicate 23-year-old Christopher Anthony Sosa was charged with intoxication assault for his involvement in the crash.
