Kansas Highway Patrol troopers said the pilot of an ultralight plane was killed in a crash in Marion County today. The KHP identified the pilot as former Kansas Representative Donald Dahl. Officials say the plane went down in a pond just before 1:45 p.m. about two miles south of Hillsboro. Dahl, 69, was the only person on board. The accident is under investigation.

Officials say a small plane lost power and crashed into a large retention pond in a South Florida residential area. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue reports that the pilot, Rob Ramirez, was the only person on board when the Piper PA-25 Pawnee aircraft went down near Aventura shortly after noon Friday. A resident who saw the crash stated that Ramirez was able to get out of the plane before calmly wading to shore. He was not injured. The plane had taken off from North Perry Airport in Pemboke Pines

A snowmobiler has died in an early morning crash in the southern New Hampshire town of Washington. Police say 62-year-old Peter Kavalauskas of Dover was snowmobiling with his son and friends early Saturday morning when he lost control and crashed into the shoreline on Millen Pond. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three people, including a 6-year-old boy, escaped serious injury when the all-terrain vehicle they were on broke through the ice of China Lake. The operator of the ATV, Lucas Cole of Benton, was trapped in the water for about five minutes and suffered hypothermia and frostbite. The 25-year-old Cole stated that he went under the water three times before his friend, Donald Cowles, pulled him free. Cowles threw his 6-year-old nephew to safety first. All three were treated at the hospital.

A paraglider pilot was killed after crashing through a frozen river in upstate New York Wednesday afternoon, state police say. The pilot, 47-year-old Rupert Cebular, crashed while practicing touch-and-go maneuvers on the ice-covered Wallkill River near Soons Orchard in Orange County, police say. The man broke through the ice and lost control of the paraglider. A second paraglider and workers nearby tried to pull Cebular from under the ice using a rope, but were unsuccessful. They eventually pulled his body from the river.
