Coral Springs High School students Steven Hoyos, 17, and his passenger, Steven Komec, were in a 2002 Nissan Sentra that was stopped on I-95 at the Lake Ida Road overpass in Palm Beach County when they were rear-ended by a 2011 Dodge pickup truck around 6:40 a.m. Hoyos, a junior, was transported to Delray Medical Center, where he later died of his injuries. Komec, a sophomore, is in critical condition at the hospital. The 35-year-old driver of the pickup was unable to avoid the disabled car, which had front end damage.

A multiple car crash on I-95 Saturday night in Delray Beach injured six people, four of whom were hurt seriously enough to go to the hospital, and was followed almost immediately by a second crash that had rescuers returning to the scene. Two people were injured in the second crash and taken to the hospital in stable condition. According to Delray Beach Fire Rescue, the first crash happened at 11:11 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-95 near Linton Boulevard.

The Florida Highway Patrol arrested a driver in an overnight hit-and-run crash on Interstate 95 South. A driver hit a car at about 1:15 a.m. Monday on I-95, just north of Linton Boulevard in Delray Beach. FHP said no one was seriously hurt, but the truck connected to the crash was later found. The driver was arrested and charged with DUI and fleeing the scene of an accident. FHP has not released the name of the person facing charges.

A portion of Interstate 95 North in Delray Beach is closed Friday after a chemical leak.

At noon., two right lanes are closed near the Linton Boulevard exit. Traffic is slowed to about 30 mph and backed up less than a mile.
According to the Delray Beach Fire Department, a 55-gallon drum being hauled by a trailer was leaking polystyrene.

Delray Beach Fire Rescue said the spill is not serious or dangerous.
