Jackson, MSA retired Jackson police officer is dead after he collided his motorcycle with a van Saturday afternoon.
It happened before 2:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon on Highway 22 just east of I-20 in Edwards.
According to Trooper Eric Henry, 49- year-old Richard Polk, formerly with JPD, was traveling westbound on his Honda motorcycle.
70- year -old Doris Stamps was traveling in a van eastbound on Highway 22 when she made a left turn into a church parking lot.
That was when Polk struck the passenger side of the van.
