Authorities are investigating a three-vehicle crash on Fowler Street near the intersection of Franklin Street in Fort Myers. Several lanes of Fowler Street will be closed while officers conduct the investigation. The road is expected to be completely open again around 3 p.m.

A small engine piper-plane driven by Gregory Piehl went down in a Fort Myers parking lot, about a half mile short of the Page Field runway. Gregroy and his mother Donna, a passenger at the plane, both suffered serious injuries and were hospitalized. Investigators are working to determine the cause of the plane crash.

A fatal crash occurred in Fort Myers Friday night around 7 p.m. on Palm Beach Boulevard in Fort Myers. A scooter driven by Marc Jacques, 32, was traveling east on Palm Beach Boulevard when he was rear-ended by a Lexus SUV driven by Caleb Black, 18.  The Lexus dragged the scooter and rider more than 200 feet.  Jacques was transported to the hospital where he later died from his injuries. Witnesses say the Lexus speeding and that Black may have been using his cell phone during the collision.

At around 10 a.m. Sunday, two vehicles were both traveling on McGregor in the same direction heading toward Ft. Myers, Florida. A pickup truck driven by Alton Lee Travis of Lehigh Acres was in the outside lane, and a motorcycle operated by Calvin Lee McIntosh of Sanibel was in the inside lane, according to Floriday Highway Patrol. The pickup changed lanes in front of the motorcycle, and McIntosh braked and was forced to lay the motorcycle on its side, striking the back of the pickup truck. McIntosh was pronounced at the scene.

One driver is dead and another is seriously injured after a head-crash in North Fort Myers Friday at the intersection of Old 41 and Willis Road at around 1:40 p.m. A 1999 Cadillac driven by Kimberly Maroney, 59, was going north on Old 41.  A 2002 Honda driven by Deborah Dancsec, 63, was going south in the middle of the northbound lane of Old 41.  The cars collided head on. Both drivers were rushed to the hospital, where Maroney was pronounced dead. Dancsec sustained serious injuries.

A single-car wreck closed the southbound lanes of Treeline Avenue. The accident happened near Daniels Parkway and Treeline Avenue at around 10:48 p.m. Only one person was in the car at the time of the crash.  This driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

FHP says a man has died after he was taken to the hospital by helicopter Thursday morning, after a single-vehicle accident near the intersection of Ben Hill Griffin Pkwy. and Miromar Lakes Blvd.

Troopers identified the man as 43-year-old Patrick Scott Butz.

It happened just after 7:30 a.m. The Florida Highway Patrol says Butz was driving southbound on Ben Hill Griffin when he lost control and slammed into a tree and a light pole. The impact spun his car around into the opposite lane and threw the man from the car.

A Fort Myers man died Saturday from injuries sustained in a crash in Sarasota County.

Joseph Nauman was pronounced dead at the scene just after 10 a.m. The incident occurred near the intersection of US 41 and McIntosh Rd.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol report Nauman was traveling north in his 2013 Ford van when the vehicle drifted off the east shoulder where it struck a utility pole. The pole broke and dropped several live wires onto a 2002 Buck driven by Richard Bacik of Sarasota.

24-year-old man died in a wrong-way crash on US-301 Monday night. Joshua Odom of Fort Myers was driving northbound in the southbound lanes just north of NE 185th Street around 11:25 p.m. in a silver Nissan Altima, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. Trooper D. Komorek reported, Jerry Foust Sr., 60, was traveling southbound on US-301 in a Freightliner CasCadia. Foust noticed that Odom was driving in the wrong direction and tried to avoid from colliding into him by swerving but Odom's car ended up hitting one of Foust's axles.
