Des Moines-Ames, IAThe Department of Natural Resources says a Des Moines woman was seriously injured when the all-terrain vehicle she was riding rolled over.
The DNR says the crash happened Sunday afternoon at Bluff Creek park southwest of Oskaloosa when 36-year-old Roberta Curry apparently hit a tree root, causing the four-wheel vehicle she was riding to turn sharply and roll over.
Curry was wearing a helmet, but it came off after the impact.
She was flown to Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

Juneau, AKA 34-year-old Juneau man has been found dead near a Tenakee Springs accident site.
Juneau radio station KINY reports Alaska State Troopers identified the victim as James Russell Vavalis.
Troopers say he was found Sunday morning near a flipped over four-wheeler on the beach at Graveyard Point, just east of Tenakee Springs.
Troopers spokeswoman tells Anchorage television station KTUU that it wasn't immediately known when the accident happened. He had been helping family members in the area build a cabin, and was last seen about 11:30 p.m. Saturday.

Savannah, GAAuthorities say a 30-year-old Hinesville man died in an all-terrain-vehicle wreck.
Police say Dwayne Cornell Chapman was riding an ATV in Walthourville just after 6:30 p.m. Sunday when he lost control and struck a tree.
Police say Chapman wasn’t wearing a helmet and suffered a head injury when he was thrown from the ATV.
Chapman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ft. Myers-Naples, FLTwo children have serious injuries after crashing their all-terrain vehicle in southwest Florida.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, 9-year-old Angela Wright was driving the ATV when it crashed Sunday afternoon in Lehigh Acres.
Troopers say the ATV flipped over as it approached a telephone pole in a grassy area.
According to a crash report, both the girl and her 16-year-old passenger Kyle Pilgrim were thrown off the ATV in the crash. Troopers say the teenager struck the telephone pole after being ejected, and the ATV struck the 9-year-old after she was thrown off.

Portland-Auburn, METhree people, including a 6-year-old boy, escaped serious injury when the all-terrain vehicle they were on broke through the ice of China Lake.
The operator of the ATV, Lucas Cole of Benton, was trapped in the water for about five minutes and suffered hypothermia and frostbite.
The 25-year-old Cole stated that he went under the water three times before his friend, Donald Cowles, pulled him free.
Cowles threw his 6-year-old nephew to safety first.
All three were treated at the hospital.

Austin, TXA man is dead after an ATV accident in Marble Falls on Saturday.
Officials say a man in his early 30s was involved in an accident at Hidden Falls Adventure Park. He was driving around with his son and friends in a homemade ATV-type vehicle when he was involved in an accident.
Officials say the man was partially ejected from the ATV and it landed on his chest, pinning him under. When the Marble Falls Volunteer Fire Department arrived, they pronounced him dead at the scene. Firefighters say the man was not wearing a seatbelt.

Seattle-Tacoma, WAA Lacey police officer has died of injuries sustained in an all-terrain vehicle crash this month. Officer Steve Brooks died Thursday at Providence St. Peter Hospital.
