One person is dead after a wrong-way crash in Irving. Investigators said the accident happened about 10:45 p.m. on Monday night. According to witnesses, the driver who was killed in the crash, entered the southbound lanes of Loop 12 going the wrong-way at Shady Grove and almost immediately collided with an 18-wheeler. The wrong way driver was killed in the crash. He has been identified as 25-year-old William Harrington of Irving. The driver of the big rig was not injured. Police said the impact of the crash was so intense the semi's steering axle broke and its fuel tank was ripped off.

Two Irving Police officers escaped injury Tuesday night after a woman driving the wrong way at high speeds hit them along State Highway 161. Irving officers were notified around 11:20 p.m. that a woman was driving the wrong-way – travelling south in the northbound lanes of the turnpike near State Highway 114. While one group of officers pursued her at speeds of up to 80 miles per hour in the southbound lanes, another officer approached the suspect in the northbound lanes and was struck by the woman’s SUV near Conflans Road in Irving.
