A man driving the wrong direction along Loop 12 in Irving late Monday night was killed when his vehicle crashed into an 18-wheeler. The incident happened at around 10:30 p.m. near the Irving Boulevard exit.
One Killed in Irving Wrong-Way Crash
According to witnesses, the driver who was killed in the crash, entered the southbound lanes of Loop 12 going the wrong-way at Shady Grove and almost immediately collided with an 18-wheeler.
One person is dead after a wrong-way crash in Irving.
Investigators said the accident happened about 10:45 p.m. on Monday night.

The wrong way driver was killed in the crash. He has been identified as 25-year-old William Harrington of Irving.
The driver of the big rig was not injured.
Police said the impact of the crash was so intense the semi's steering axle broke and its fuel tank was ripped off.
A second accident happened a short time after the first but the driver of that car was not injured. Early Tuesday morning, the freeway remained closed.
