A Maui woman was killed during an apparent hit-and-run accident late Tuesday night, according to Maui Police. An MPD spokesperson says Viki Dearforff, 51, of Kihei, was killed when she was struck by a Toyota truck while walking on Piilani Highway. Deardorff was not in a marked crosswalk at the time of the accident. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Police say that "following the collision the operator of the Toyota truck that struck Ms. Deardorff fled the scene failing to provide any assistance. The incident is believed to be the sixth fatality on Maui roads in less than two weeks.

There was a fatal crash that happened on Piilani Highway around 2 p.m. Saturday.

Investigators say a 28-year-old male from Kula was traveling North Bound in a pickup truck when he drifted into the bicycle lane and struck a bicyclist.

The bicyclist has been identified as 61-year-old Karl Hagen of Kihei.

Hagen was transported to the Maui Memorial Medical Center Emergency Room where he expired as a result of his injuries.

It’s unknown at this time if speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.

A man was killed in a single motorcycle accident on Maui.

The crash happened just before 10 p.m. Wednesday in Kihei.

According to Maui police, a 2005 Suzuki GSX-R750K motorcycle operated by Burton Salas was traveling north on North Kihei Road. Police say the motorcyclist failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway and collided into a guardrail.

Authorities say Burton sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

A Kahului man is dead after crashing his motorcycle in Kihei.

Maui police say at 1:56 a.m. Friday, Clifford Spencer, 63, was riding a black Harley Davidson motorcycle north-bound on Piilani Hwy. when he lost control and hit a guardrail near Kaiwahine St.

Police say he was not wearing a helmet.

It is not known if speed, drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash. An investigation is pending.

A Kihei man is dead after an early-morning crash on Maui.

The incident happened at about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday on Piikea Avenue in Kihei.

Maui police say 47-year-old Kenneth Elf was crossing the road when he was hit by a delivery truck. The truck then veered out of control and hit a fence on the side of the road.

Elf died at the scene. Police say he was not in a marked crosswalk.

Police are still investigating whether speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.

There was a motorcycle crash on Maui Friday night on Piilani Highway in Kihei.

The 18-year old man operating the motorcycle was taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

Police say just after 7:15 Friday night a car made a left turn onto Kaonoulu Street in front of the motorcycle, and the motorcycle then slammed into the passenger side of the car.

The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.
