Dan Powers of Harrison, was the lone victim in a single-vehicle accident New Year's Eve after he lost control of his pick-up truck on East Miami River Road and struck a tree in Colerain Township. Impairment is not believed to have been a factor.

One woman has been confirmed deceased after a car that veered to avoid a head-on collision at Marine Drive and Northeast 85th Avenue on Wednesday ended up in the Columbia River. Portland police identified the victim as Melissa Parke, 46, of Portland. Another driver called 911 around 7:30 p.m. to report that a car had entered the water off Marine Drive near the airport. Investigators believe the car either swerved or drifted off the roadway.

Leroy Mulhollen of Montrose was driving north on State Route 29 in Franklin Township at around 1:00 a.m. Tuesday when his Dodge Ram ran off the road and struck a tree head-on near Olszewski Road. Mulhollen was pronounced dead at the scene.

Juan Linares, 31, was driving east on I-90 in a car with Chavez, a 10-month-old boy, and an 11-year-old girl as passengers when he somehow lost control, departed the highway and struck the median before re-entering the road. Upon re-entry, Linares' car collided with a semi-truck driven by Russell Lanman, 58. Only Chavez was injured in the crash, though the extent of her injuries is not yet known.5 things to do immediately after a serious accident

According to authorities, 15-year-old Summer Ungerank of Pocahontas was killed when the 2008 Chevrolet Aveo she was riding in ran off of Bellview Road at a high speed, struck a tree, and overturned. The accident happened at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Randolph County. Two other teen girls in the vehicle, ages 16 and 14, recieved unknown injuries in the accident. Russell Banasiak had just left his girlfriend's home and was driving on Fort Plains Road when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree. He was taken to a local hospital where he was declared dead. Authorities are unsure what caused the accident.

Stephen M. Frances was driving on Ratzer Road when he lost control of his vehicle and struck a utility pole. He was conscious after the crash but complained of pain, so he was sent to a local medical center where his condition worsened until he died later that day.

Johnny Harold King was driving on Alabama 109 when his vehicle left the roadway, hit a fence, and overturned. Authorities pronounced him dead at the scene. The accident is still under investigation.

An 18-year-old was driving on McIlwain Road near Heath Springs around 11 p.m. Sunday, when he ran off the right side of the road, over corrected, and struck a tree. Early reports indicate the driver was a male, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. We'll update this story as more information becomes available.

Randy Joseph Fallaw, of Ladson, was northbound in a 2000 Ford pickup on I-85 in Anderson County Sunday night around 8 p.m. when he attempted to avoid another accident, lost control of his vehicle, ran off the right side of the roadway, and struck a tree, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Fallaw was wearing a seat belt and had to be extracted from his pickup, and was pronounced dead at Greenville Memorial Hospital. The accident occurred at mile marker 36, which is about 2.5 miles north of Piedmont
