Police are on the hunt for two men in a white van believed to be responsible for a Tuesday night hit-and-run that sent one man to the hospital with critical injuries. The victim was walking across Aurora Avenue North at roughly 6:45 p.m. when he was hit by a white work van. Witnesses told deputies the van, which was driven by a Hispanic man, pulled into a nearby Jiffy Lube parking lot after the crash, but drove away moments later before police arrived.

Storms raced through the stop sign at Empire and Helena and smashed into Smith’s Ford pickup truck. The collision drove Smith’s pickup into a telephone pole, according to court records. The pole snapped and landed in a nearby yard. Debris littered the intersection.
