A crash between an empty milk tanker truck and a vehicle shut down multiple northbound lanes on the 5 Freeway in the Castaic area early Wednesday morning.
The collision occurred shortly before 5 a.m. north of Lake Hughes Road. The crash resulted in an oil spill.
All northbound lanes were initially shut down, but California Highway Patrol officials reopened one lane at about 5:30 a.m. The other lanes remained closed as crews worked to clean the roadway. At one point, northbound traffic was backed up to Hasley Canyon Road.
All lanes have since reopened.
Oregon State Police released the names of two men killed in a multi-vehicle crash in Douglas County on Sunday.
The accident happened about 11 p.m. along the northbound shoulder of Interstate 5 about eight miles south of Canyonville, killing a roadside assistance mechanic and a passenger in a commercial truck.
Lt. Gregg Hastings, an OSP spokesman, said a disabled commercial truck pulling a semi-trailer was parked on the right northbound shoulder of I-5.
