According to the Florida Highway Patrol, at least one person is dead following an accident in Palatka, Putnam County Friday at about 7 a.m. on U.S. 17 near T.R. Williams Lane. A man was driving a pickup truck south on U.S. 17 when he lost control, drifted into the median, and flipped several times. He was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Florida Highway Patrol troopers say a pedestrian is dead after an accident that happened Saturday around 2:45 a.m. in Palatka.

Troopers say a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Brandon Knudsen of Satsuma, Florida hit 28-year-old Zachary Vittetow of Glen St. Mary.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash in Putnam County involving a dirt bike.

57-year-old Michael Wilber was killed in a crash on Tuesday around 9 p.m. on State Road 20, just west of Kitty Lane according to FHP.

For unknown reasons, patrol officers said Wilber had his Suzuki dirt bike stopped in the westbound travel lane of State Road 20, west of Kitty Lane.

Timothy Buchner, 59, driving a Merc Villager SUV, was traveling west on State Road 20, when he collided with the dirt bike.

Authorities are questioning several people to determine who was driving a car that struck and killed a 3-year-old San Mateo boy. Morgan Wallace Calaway died Tuesday night after he somehow escaped from a family member's home and wandered into the street. Florida Highway Patrol officials said he was struck by a white Honda. Authorities found the car a few miles away after the accident.

When a man accidentally drove his car into a retention pond by the Walmart on Monday afternoon, two men jumped into the water and swam to the sinking vehicle. According to the Palatka Police Department, they freed the 68-year-old driver from his seat belt, got him out of the vehicle and pulled him to shore.

A single-engine plane crash landed behind the Palatka Lowe's store on Friday morning and authorities try to figure out what cause the planed to go down about 1,500 feet short of the runway at Kay Larkin Field. Authorities say two men aboard the Cessna 400 were injured -- both flown by air ambulance to UF Health/Shands in Gainesville, where the passenger was reported to have life-threatening injuries.
