An SUV ran off icy Interstate 94 Tuesday morning on the western edge of St. Paul and crashed, leaving the driver dead, authorities said. The crash occurred about 7:35 a.m. on westbound I-94 soon after the SUV left southbound Hwy. 280, according to the State Patrol. The man behind the wheel has been identified as Uriel Isodoro 29. The patrol described the interstate as ice-covered at the time.

Two people were killed in a single-car crash on Interstate 94 near Pelham Road in Allen Park early this morning, Michigan State Police said. The driver of the vehicle, a 2002 Nissan, lost control around 3:50 a.m., leaving the left side of the freeway’s westbound lanes, hitting the guardrail. The driver and a passenger in the front of the vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Another passenger, in the back of the vehicle, was taken to Oakwood Hospital for treatment.

One person was killed Thursday afternoon in a multiple-vehicle accident that shut down eastbound I-94 near Michigan City, Indiana police said.

The crash involved seven semi-trailer trucks and several other passenger vehicles, police said. Other injuries were reported, but the extent of the injures is not yet known.

Police did not immediately release details on the cause of the crash at mile marker 36 in LaPorte County, but weather may have played a role.

The expressway was closed east of mile marker 34, police said.

Kenosha sheriffs officials have identified a man killed in a crash on Interstate 94 Wednesday.

A Sheriffs spokesman said that John Punak, 25, of Racine, was killed when his vehicle exited I-94 near Highway 50 and struck a pole around 1:40 p.m.

Deputies said Punak's 2006 Mercury Milan was traveling south on the exit ramp at a high rate of speed when the car hit a utility pole.

A Milwaukee County Sheriff's deputy responding to a crash on I-94 was injured when a driver behind him lost control around 10:30 a.m. Sunday, according to the sheriff's department.

The deputy, with 16 years on the force, was treated at a hospital for back and neck pain, according to a news release, which does not name the deputy or the hospital.

Authorities say a motorist has died on a Detroit freeway after the person's car struck a median wall and overturned. Michigan State Police troopers say the driver — who hasn't been identified — lost control of the vehicle early Saturday morning on I-94. The motorist died at the scene. State police Lt. Michael Shaw said neither road conditions nor alcohol appeared to be factors in the crash.

State Sen. Kathleen Vinehout, a likley candidate for the Democratic nomination for governor, was injured in a crash Sunday morning on I-94 in Racine County. Vinehout was traveling to Milwaukee. Vinehout (D-Alma) had just canceled events in Racine and Kenosha as a snowstorm hit the region. Media has reported that she has possibly suffered an arm injury. The storm caused crashes on virtually every major thoroughfare in the region Sunday, with several multiple-vehicle pile-ups reported. The crash in Racine County forced the closure of eastbound I-94 for much of the day.

A tow truck driver was injured when police said a vehicle hit him as he was tending to a crashed vehicle along a highway.

Randy Hammer owns Tigers Towing in Battle Creek and has 25 years of experience.

A Tigers Towing coworker told 24 Hour News 8 that Hammer was operating the levers on the side of his flat bed truck as he was tending to a vehicle that had slide off Interstate 94 and into a ditch near Helmer Road near Battle Creek.

He saw another eastbound vehicle coming toward him, after police said the driver lost control on the icy road.

A spin-out accident involving several vehicles has slowed down Interstate 94 northbound near Grange Avenue.
Driving conditions are dangerous to to falling snow and some ice on the roadway.

Several vehicles were spun out, blocking all lanes of the Interstate.

Investigators in Dearborn are working to identify a man who was killed when his car was struck early this morning on I-94. The man was headed east near Greenfield Road when his 1996 Plymouth was struck about 3:05 a.m. by a Chrysler Town & Country minivan, according to Dearborn Police. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The female driver of the minivan fled but was caught a short time later by police. She and her male passenger were taken to an unnamed hospital with minor injuries. The woman’s identity was not released.
