Police in Pittsburgh are looking for several people after a chase ended with a car crash.
Authorities believe the incident began Friday morning as a fight in East Liberty.
Police responded and chased a vehicle that fled that scene. The car eventually crashed and several people ran away.
The driver taken into custody has not been publicly identified. Police continue to search for the other people, some of whom may have been armed.
Crashes involving a semi-truck hauling two trailers and other vehicles have prompted state police to close Interstate 70 in both directions in southwestern Pennsylvania.
The crash happened Tuesday morning near the exit for Eighty Four and state Route 519 in Washington County. That's about 25 miles inside Pennsylvania, east of the West Virginia border.
The Allegheny County medical examiner's office this morning identified a man killed Sunday night in a crash on Route 51.
James Posey, 60, of Pittsburgh, died and several others were injured, when multiple vehicles collided at Route 51, also known as Saw Mill Run Boulevard, and Woodruff Street shortly after 9:15 p.m., according to emergency responders at the scene.
Pittsburgh police said one driver is in custody and suspected of driving under the influence.
An Allegheny County dispatcher said police had closed the Parkway ramp at Route 51.
An SUV ran a red light and crashed into a school van this morning, injuring six students.
The crash occurred at 9:09 a.m. at the intersection of the West End Bridge and West Carson Street.
A Pittsburgh police spokeswoman said six students from Pittsburgh Allegheny K-5 were in the van and were taken to Allegheny General Hospital with injuries she described as “very minor.”
No one in the SUV was hurt, she said. Its driver was cited for running a red light.
