Two tractor trailers crash closing I-70.
Tractor trailers crash, close I-70 in both directions.
Crashes involving a semi-truck hauling two trailers and other vehicles have prompted state police to close Interstate 70 in both directions in southwestern Pennsylvania.
The crash happened Tuesday morning near the exit for Eighty Four and state Route 519 in Washington County. That's about 25 miles inside Pennsylvania, east of the West Virginia border.
Initial reports were the crash involved the eastbound trailers and other vehicles. But PennDOT officials say the highway has been closed in both directions because of another crash involving vehicles in the westbound lanes, whose drivers may have been distracted by the eastbound wreckage.
There were no immediate reports of injuries.
Light snow began falling in the greater Pittsburgh area shortly after dawn Tuesday, but it wasn't immediately clear if weather played a role in the crash.
