A man died Saturday after his pickup truck crashed into a telephone pole in Grantville.
The crash occurred at about 3:20 p.m. in the 4300 block of Twain Avenue near Mission Gorge Road.
Police say an 80-year-old man, later identified as Albert Najera, 80, was driving a 1999 Toyota pickup truck eastbound on Twain Avenue when he may have had some kind of medical issue. The truck then hit two cars and a telephone pole, police said.
The man died at the scene. No other injuries
The elderly man killed in a hit-and-run crash in San Ysidro Sunday was identified as Alonso Flores Pacheco, the Medical Examiner’s Office said Monday.
Pacheco, 81, was walking south across East San Ysidro Boulevard when he was struck by a westbound car, San Diego police said Sunday.
Pacheco died at the scene, police said.
The driver fled west from the crash on East San Ysidro Boulevard in a car witnesses described as a dark, 1990s-model, four-door sedan with oxidized paint on its roof.
At least 7 people were injured Thursday night in a multi-vehicle crash on Jamacha Boulevard just south of state Route 94.
The crash occurred just after 8:30 p.m. and involved three vehicles, according to Cal Fire officials.
The California Highway Patrol issued a Sig Alert for the area while rescue crews responded to the scene.
The conditions of the injured parties were not immediately known.
A pedestrian was fatally struck by an Amtrak train Tuesday morning near Little Italy, police said.
The accident was reported on the tracks between West Hawthorne and West Grape streets about 10:15 a.m., San Diego police said.
A traffic alert was issued for both streets while authorities investigated the crash.
North County Transit District said via Twitter that riders should expect delays due to the crash.

The crash was reported about 3:50 p.m., and four of the freeway’s six lanes were closed, CHP Officer Mary Bailey said. They were expected to remain closed for at least an hour.
A pedestrian suffered a head injury Monday morning when he was struck by a car in Barrio Logan, San Diego police said.
The man was rushing to catch a bus when the accident happened just before 6 a.m. at South 30th and Main streets, police said. The pedestrian was taken to a hospital for his injuries.
The driver who hit the man stopped, police said.
Traffic on Main was snarled in both directions during the accident investigation.
