A U.S. Marine was killed and three others were injured in a multi-vehicle crash early Saturday morning on Interstate 8 in near state Route 163, authorities said.
The crash was on the westbound side of I-8 about 5 a.m., according to the CHP. One of the vehicles crashed into a barrier and another three cars slammed into it.
The Medical Examiner's Office stated that person killed in the crash, later identified as Ricky Jones, was a 20-year-old, active-duty Marine.
A rollover crash Tuesday afternoon prompted authorities to shut down lanes on westbound Interstate 8 to northbound Interstate 5.
The single-vehicle crash happened just before 5 p.m. on the connector from westbound I-8 to northbound I-5, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A Sig Alert was issued at about 5:10 p.m. due to the response by emergency crews.
Just before 6 p.m., all lanes were cleared and the Sig Alert was lifted.
A man died Saturday after his pickup truck crashed into a telephone pole in Grantville.
The crash occurred at about 3:20 p.m. in the 4300 block of Twain Avenue near Mission Gorge Road.
Police say an 80-year-old man, later identified as Albert Najera, 80, was driving a 1999 Toyota pickup truck eastbound on Twain Avenue when he may have had some kind of medical issue. The truck then hit two cars and a telephone pole, police said.
The man died at the scene. No other injuries
The elderly man killed in a hit-and-run crash in San Ysidro Sunday was identified as Alonso Flores Pacheco, the Medical Examiner’s Office said Monday.
Pacheco, 81, was walking south across East San Ysidro Boulevard when he was struck by a westbound car, San Diego police said Sunday.
Pacheco died at the scene, police said.
The driver fled west from the crash on East San Ysidro Boulevard in a car witnesses described as a dark, 1990s-model, four-door sedan with oxidized paint on its roof.
