A woman in her 60s who was using a crosswalk in San Francisco's Visitacion Valley neighborhood was struck and killed Thursday by an SUV driver who circled back to look at the fallen victim before speeding away, police said. The hit-and-run at 11:15 a.m. at the intersection of Visitacion Avenue and Bayshore Boulevard marked the city's sixth pedestrian fatality of the year and 12th since December, a run of bloodshed that has put a spotlight on a longtime problem and prompted calls for more aggressive action.

San Francisco police are investigating a collision between a vehicle and pedestrian that happened in the city’s Sunset District on Sunday night, a police sergeant said.

Officers responded to a report of the collision in the 3700 block of Ulloa Street near 39th Avenue around 9:45 p.m., police said.

A vehicle traveling east on Ulloa Street hit a pedestrian who was in the crosswalk, he said.

The pedestrian, a woman in her 60s, was transported to San Francisco General Hospital where she is in serious but stable condition, police said.

A pedestrian was struck by a bus in San Francisco Sunday morning, a police spokesman said.

Officers and paramedics responded to a report of a crash involving a man in his 60s who had been hit by a private bus at Seventh and Market streets at about 8:10 a.m., San Francisco police spokesman Eric O’Neal said.

The victim was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries that were potentially life threatening, O’Neal said.

The bus driver remained at the scene and cooperated with police.

The crash remains under investigation

A juvenile was struck and injured while walking in crosswalk on Wednesday evening in San Francisco’s Balboa Terrace neighborhood.

Police said a boy was hit by a car that was turning onto Junipero Serra Boulevard from Ocean Avenue.

The boy was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.

The driver remained at the scene and was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian and not having proper proof of insurance.

The collision remains under investigation.

In the latest in a series of traffic collisions in San Francisco injuring pedestrians and cyclists, a bike rider was struck Tuesday by a car near the Civic Center, authorities said.

Reports of a collision near Market and Hyde streets came in around 10:15 a.m. Responding firefighters located a man in his 40s suffering from injuries sustained in the crash, officials said.

The man was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries, which were considered non-life threatening, the Fire Department said.

A pedestrian was struck and injured by a car Tuesday in San Francisco's Financial District, police said.

The pedestrian was hit near the intersection of Sacramento and Battery streets about 6:10 a.m., said a police spokesman.

The pedestrian, whose identity was not released, was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, police said. The driver stayed at the scene.

A 5-year-old boy and his babysitter are recovering at a hospital after being struck by a vehicle while walking in San Francisco’s Richmond District Monday evening.

The woman and boy were crossing the street in a crosswalk at 37th Avenue and Fulton Street when, around 5:15 p.m., they were hit by a vehicle, a San Francisco police said.

The boy suffered a contusion to his head, and the baby sitter suffered a leg injury, according to police. Both were transported to San Francisco General Hospital and are expected to survive.

A bicyclist was hit by a taxi Monday evening at Fifth and Market streets in San Francisco.

Police officers responded to the collision about 8:45 p.m., according to a spokesman for the department.

The driver remained at the scene, police said in a release.

The bicyclist was transported to San Francisco General Hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries are not known.

A man was arrested on suspicion of DUI and other charges Friday afternoon after crashing into two cars and injuring three people in San Francisco's Russian Hill neighborhood, a police sergeant said.

Officers responded to a report of a collision at the intersection of Van Ness Avenue and Broadway Street around 12:10 p.m., police said.

A man later identified as 26-year-old Jacob Sahagun was driving south on Van Ness Avenue when he collided with two vehicles driving east on Broadway Street, police said.

Police have reopened Osgood Road in Fremont after a suspected drunken driving crash left a 4-year-old girl in critical condition this morning, a police sergeant said.

The crash involving a Honda Civic and Toyota Camry was reported on Osgood Road between Blacow Road and Auto Mall Parkway around 12:15 a.m., a police Sgt. said.

A 33-year-old woman of Fremont was driving a silver Civic south on Osgood Road when she veered onto northbound lanes and slammed head on into a silver Camry, police said.
