Two Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers, Nicholas Dees and Keith Burch, were hit by a vehicle on westbound I-40 east of Shawnee around 10 p.m. Saturday. The troopers were in the median when a car exited the road and crashed into them. Trooper Dees was pronounced deceased at the crash site, and Trooper Burch was taken to OU Medical Center where he is currently listed in serious condition. The driver of the vehicle was also taken to a local hospital where he is listed in stable condition. The cause of the crash is not known at this time.
