It occured about 2:30 p.m. Friday on Interstate 81 in Hagerstown. The driver, 59-year-old Donald W. Hall of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, was traveling north when the rig veered off the side of the road, hit guardrail and bridge support and burst into flames. Troopers say the truck was hauling recyclables. Hall was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man who was killed in a crash on Interstate 81 in Franklin County earlier Tuesday morning was identified as a Virginia man by state police. Steven Lee Winfrey, 51, of Roanoke, Virginia, was killed when his tractor-trailer veered off the roadway Exit 10 for Route 914 in Guilford Township on northbound I-81 in Franklin County just before 5 a.m. The truck crashed into a cement storm drain and burst into flames, according to previous reports from state police.

A Newport News man lost his life in a motorcycle crash on Interstate 81 Monday afternoon.

Deborah Cox with the Virginia State Police said the crash happened around 3 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Interstate 81 near the 48 mile marker in Smyth County. Witnesses told troopers a motorcycle was traveling north when it went off the left side of the road.

The motorcycle hit a guardrail and the driver, identified as Robert Henry Webber, 69, of Newport News, was ejected. He died at the scene.

The names of two men who were involved in a crash on Interstate 81 yesterday, which resulted in one of them being killed, have been released.

James C. Hoover, 54, Stone Park, Illinois, received fatal injuries after being ejected. His passenger, Jackson David Meadows, 45, Knoxville, received non-life threatening injuries.

Virginia State Police say three people are dead after a car slid into a tractor-trailer parked along Interstate 81 in Washington County.

State police spokeswoman Corinne Geller says the southbound tractor-trailer's driver pulled the rig off onto the shoulder after it had a flat tire.

Geller says a southbound car ran off the interstate's left side and its driver overcorrected. The car then slid sideways and hit the tractor-trailer's rear.

State police say one person from Canada is dead and four others are injured after their sport utility vehicle crashed and overturned on Interstate 81 in northern New York. Troopers tell local media that the SUV was headed north around 4 p.m. Sunday when it crashed, rolled over and came to rest in the median between exits 48 and 49 in the town of Pamelia, outside Watertown, 65 miles north of Syracuse. Officials say the crash killed one person and left four others injured, including two who were flown by helicopters to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse.

The investigation into a May 10 crash on Interstate 81, Great Bend Twp., which left an Endicott, N.Y., man dead is continuing by Pennsylvania State Police, Gibson. David Decker, 73, stopped his vehicle on the right shoulder of the highway. He was outside the driver’s side of his 2010 Chevrolet Traverse when a vehicle, driven by Dylan Schmiel, 23, Glen Falls, N.Y., left the right lane, crossed the white fog line and traveled onto the shoulder striking the Traverse, then hitting the Endicott man just before 7 p.m. on Saturday.
