A car crashed into a canal off Lateral A and Evans Road in Wapato, Washington, and caught fire Friday, March 6, at approximately 1:40 am, killing one person. The victim was a passenger in a Toyota Camry driven by Leandro Huereca, 41, of Toppenish, who was transported to Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital. The cause of the collision is under investigation. It has not yet been reported if charges will be filed.

It was about 7:10am when Wyman was speeding on Branch Road and left the roadway, causing the vehicle to roll. Both Wyman and Lewis, a passenger in her vehicle, were injured and taken to the hospital. Lewis was treated and released, and Wyman was treated and then booked into Yakima County Jail.

On Wednesday afternoon, Munoz-Mendez was driving west on McDonald Road when he did not stop at the stop sign at the intersection with Lateral A, and collided with a car driven by Estephanie Lopez-Pena, 19, who was driving north on that road. While Munoz-Mendez was killed in the accident, Lopez-Pena was transported to the hospital and has already been treated and released. Check back for updates.

A 50-year-old White Swan man was injured when his car crashed into a swather being driven on North Brownstown Road on Saturday morning. Sheriff’s deputies were called to the accident, just north of Branch Road, at 6:24 a.m., according to a news release from the sheriff’s office. The swather was being driven southbound on North Brownstown Road without a pilot car when it was hit by the man’s car, which was heading north. The machine’s width extended over the centerline of the road. The man was transported to a local hospital for treatment of possible broken vertebrae.

An 18-year-old Toppenish man, Manuel Guzman, was killed late Tuesday afternoon when his car left the roadway and rolled off North Track Road about 5 miles east of Wapato. Two passengers, Miguel U. Ruiz, 19, and Alexander J. Arias, 16, both of Toppenish, were treated for injuries at the scene and released. Dealing with personal injury claims after a serious accident can be complicated.
