Shortly before 4:00pm in a residential area near Hastings, a car on Ravenna Trail crossed over into the oncoming lane and struck an SUV head-on. One of the passengers in the SUV as well as the driver of the car were both pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, while another passenger in the SUV sustained injuries but is now stable, and it's driver was hospitalized with critical injuries. A fatal crash involving a motorcyclist Thursday morning is being investigated. The motorcyclist was the only person involved. The victim was not wearing a helmet and that alcohol was not detected.

Authorities on Wednesday identified the man who died in a three-vehicle crash on a Burnsville highway as a onetime leader of American Legion Baseball in Minnesota.

Darwin H. Berg, 71, of Chaska, was killed late Tuesday afternoon in the wreck on Hwy. 13 at Washburn Avenue, according to the State Patrol. Berg was the state director of Minnesota American Legion Baseball for nine years until 2012.

A man killed in a crash that shut down part of westbound Highway 55 at Lexington Avenue in Mendota Heights has been identified.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Kevin Hough, 55, of Farmington was killed when he was hit by 53-year-old Gary Ferm of Bloomington, who was eastbound on Hwy. 55. Ferm's vehicle veered into the westbound lanes and hit Hough.

Ferm suffered non-life threatening injuries, the state patrol said.

Roads were dry at the time.

A school bus serving the Burnsville Eagan Savage District and a car collided at an intersection Wednesday morning in Burnsville, and the handful of students aboard escaped injury, officials said. The crash occurred shortly before 7 a.m. at Hwy. 13 and County Road 11, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s traffic operations center. One person in the car was slightly hurt but not seriously enough to require hospitalization, the State Patrol said.
