Joshua Saunders, 19, arrested for DUI, hit-and-run, vehicular homicide after striking Landen Morton, 2, in East Hall, Gainesville, Georgia

Early Sunday afternoon, 19-year-old Joshua Saunders attempted to back up in a black 1978 Chevrolet K10 at a residence on the 2400 block of Miller Drive off Old Cornelia Highway in East Hall when a toddler ran behind the vehicle. Saunders fled the scene but was escorted back to the scene by Hall County Sheriff's deputies. The little boy, identified as Landen Morton, was brought Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. Saunders was arrested and faces charges of DUI, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and vehicular homicide.

Officer Charlie Viverett, 61 killed after getting hit by Larry Hinson, 22 when he was fleeing police in Temple Hills, Maryland

Authorities have arrested a driver who police said hit and killed an officer in Temple Hills, Maryland. Authorities have charged 22-year-old Larry Donnell Hinson with first and second degree assault on a police officer, vehicular theft, and several other offenses. Police said an officer stopped the car that Hinson was driving due to driving without headlights, but Hinson drove off, striking and injuring an officer. Hinson then crashed into multiple cars about a half-mile away. Charlie Viverett, 61, of Clinton, Maryland, died from injuries sustained in the crash.

At 2:45 p.m. Tuesday in Shelbyville, Jonathan Curtis was driving a blue 2001 Ford Focus when he ran a stop sign to turn onto Shelbyville Road from Hemp Ridge Road. When an officer indicated with his lights to pull Curtis over, Curtis accelerated and continued down Shelbyville Road toward Shelbyville. At this point Curtis crossed over into oncoming traffic, t-boning a vehicle at the intersection of at Frankfort and Mount Eden Roads, totaling the Ford Focus and injuring the other driver.

Two rob a department store and hit loss prevention officer with vehicle during escape in Springfield Township, Ohio

Police in Springfield Township, Ohio are searching for a man and a woman who robbed a Kohl's department store. The suspects are believed to be Jon Daniel McCormick, 24, and Paige McCormick, 21, both residents of Canton. The two got into a physical struggle with the store's loss prevention officer after attempting to shoplift, then fled the store. The suspects physically assaulted store employees as they left. In the parking lot, the suspects swerved to hit the loss prevention officer as they sped away, leaving the officer unconscious.
