A teenager has been charged in the accident that injured the Bartow County police chief on Wednesday morning.

According to Georgia State Patrol, Chief Terry J. Harget was struck by 18-year-old Alex Jordan Rouse while directing traffic at Woodland Middle School.

Rouse was driving a 2002 Crysler Concorde at the time of the accident.

A representative from Bartow County Schools says there are "two schools in the area and two Euharlee Police staff help direct traffic" every morning, which explains why the chief was directing traffic.

A mechanical issue with a tire may have caused a Henry County wreck that killed one person and seriously injured another, police said Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened before 11:30 a.m. Tuesday on I-75 southbound just south of Jodeco Road and blocked two lanes for several hours, according to Henry County police. Around 3:30 p.m., all lanes of I-75 were re-opened.

Investigators believe a problem with a tire may have caused the white F-150 to overturn, ejecting both the driver and a passenger, Smith said. The single-vehicle crash remains under investigation.
