Terry J. Harget, Chief of the Bartow County police, injured, taken to hospital, after being struck, while directing traffic at the Woodland Middle School, by a car driven by Alex Jordon Rouse, 18.

A teenager has been charged in the accident that injured the Bartow County police chief on Wednesday morning.

According to Georgia State Patrol, Chief Terry J. Harget was struck by 18-year-old Alex Jordan Rouse while directing traffic at Woodland Middle School.

Rouse was driving a 2002 Crysler Concorde at the time of the accident.

A representative from Bartow County Schools says there are "two schools in the area and two Euharlee Police staff help direct traffic" every morning, which explains why the chief was directing traffic.

Harget was transported to the Floyd Medical Center by ambulance. No word on his condition, at this time. Rouse was charged with Failure to Obey Authorized Person Directing Traffic.
