Tampa-St. Petersburg, FLA Tampa Police officer was injured Sunday morning during a collision with a wrong-way driver near the intersection of Armenia Ave. and Interstate 275. The incident occurred just after 4 am and closed the southbound entrance ramp to the interstate for several hours. According to a TPD report the officer and the driver of the second vehicle were transported to a local hospital for treatment of non, life-threatening injuries.

Tampa-St. Petersburg, FLTwo women and one man were killed early Sunday when their vehicle collided head-on with a semi tractor-trailer in the northbound lanes of Interstate 275 just south of Bearss Ave. in Tampa. Michael F. Kellogg of Lakeland was driving the truck and was not injured. It is not yet known where the wrong-way vehicle originated as the investigation continues.

Tampa-St. Petersburg, FLThe Florida Highway Patrol has identified the driver who was killed early Friday in the third wrong-way crash on Interstate 275 this year.
The wrong-way driver was Edward Jose Duran, 23, of Green Ridge Drive in Tampa, the FHP said Saturday. Investigators said Duran was driving his 1997 Honda Accord about 2:44 a.m. the wrong way against southbound traffic on the highway near downtown and struck an ambulance with two attendants but no patients.
Duran died at the scene and the two people in the ambulance suffered minor injuries.
