According to a press memo from the Washington State Patrol, 23-year-old Leighton J. Rowe was eastbound on I-90 in a Ford F-150 when the vehicle left the roadway, went through a barbed wire fence, struck a tree, and became fully engulfed in flames. Rowe, of Pasco, was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident, which occurred at 2:49 a.m. Monday, is under investigation.

A 23-year-old woman died early this morning after her vehicle collided with a parked dump truck at the summit and her car caught fire. Sarrah Powers, of Snoqualmie Pass, was traveling east on State Route 906, when for unknown reasons her vehicle crossed into the westbound lane and crashed into the unoccupied Peterbuilt dump truck.
