Phoenix, AZOn Wednesday night in Sun City, witnesses report to the Maricopa County Sheriff's Office that the driver of a car drove through a backyard near 103rd Avenue and Boswell Boulevard, where they collided head-on with a tree. The car burst into flames, and the driver, identified as Tor Stobbe, 44, was killed before he could be rescued.

Phoenix, AZJust before 2 a.m., a Toyota SUV and a Ford SUV collided at 67th Avenue and Union Hills Drive. The driver of the Toyota was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford sustained non-life threatening injuries and was also hospitalized. Impairment is not believed to be a factor in this accident.

Phoenix, AZA man was killed and his wife injured after being hit by an SUV Wednesday while walking in a crosswalk near Loop 101 and Shea Boulevard in Scottsdale. A 29-year-old driver had exited Loop 101 and was turning right onto westbound Shea Boulevard when his vehicle hit Jack Leland Sherman, 81, and Joyce Ann Sherman, 78. The Shermans are from Vancouver, Washington State. They were transported to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center where Jack Leland Sherman was pronounced deceased. Joyce Ann Sherman, 78, was listed in serious condition Wednesday afternoon.
