Police officer and volunteer fire fighter Eddie Johnson, 45, died following a car accident on U.S. 160 on the way to a house fire in Alton, Missouri

45-year-old volunteer fire chief and full-time police officer Eddie Johnson, of Alton, Missouri, died Monday afternoon. The accident occured on U.S. 160 on October 20, 2014 in Oregon County when Johnson was en route responding to a house fire when his patrol SUV went off the road, into a driveway, and flipped. Johnson, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle.     

Kenneth Johnson Jr., 28, killed, two others suffer minor injuries, after thier SUV leaves the Homer Adams Parkway, at a high rate of speed, and crashes into a traffic light in Alton.

Authorities said an Alton man died after crashing into a traffic light Saturday morning.

Police said the accident occurred close to 2:20 a.m. at the intersection of Homer Adams Parkway and Seminary Road in Alton. Authorities said 28-year-old Kenneth Johnson Jr. was driving a Chevy Trail Blazer at a high rate of speed on the Homer Adams Parkway when he lost control causing his car to hit a traffic light and then flip over.
