Crash kills southern Missouri fire chief

Johnson was a full-time Alton police officer and an Oregon County reserve deputy. He had been chief of Alton's volunteer fire department since 2010. The Alton department and others were responding to a house fire. The home was destroyed. 
45-year-old volunteer fire chief and full-time police officer Eddie Johnson, of Alton, Missouri, died Monday afternoon. The accident occured on U.S. 160 on October 20, 2014 in Oregon County when Johnson was en route responding to a house fire when his patrol SUV went off the road, into a driveway, and flipped. Johnson, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle.
