The fatal crash occurred Thursday morning along Route 250 at the intersection of Route 285 when a Nissan Sentra pulled out in front of a Chrysler Voyager minivan and was broadsided. The driver of the Voyager, Erica Wiles, sustained minor injuries. The driver of the Nissan Sentra was 60-year-old Sue Morris of Crimora, who died at a local hospital. Authorities say Morris was not wearing a seat belt.
On Friday evening, a 24-year-old Pontiac woman was westbound on South Boulevard in a 2001 Chevrolet Blazer when she blew through a red light and struck a 1999 Pontiac Montana that was turning right onto Woodward from South Boulevard. In the Montana was a 23-year-old Waterford woman, who was driving, along wither her 16-year-old brother, 2-year-old nephew, and 3-year-old daughter. All occupants of the Montana were brought to the hospital, where 23-year-old driver was listed in serious condition Friday, and all other occupants were listed in critical condition.
According to California Highway Patrol, five people were killed when a van carrying six farmworkers was broadsided by a truck on Highway 4 near Van Allen Road. Three people involved survived: the two occupants of the red pickup truck, and one farmworker who was in the van. Due to heavy fog, visibility was less than 100 feet when the crash happened.
