An 84-year-old man from Westfield is dead after a pick-up truck slammed into the driver’s side of a car he was driving in Northampton.
Authorities says the driver of the pick-up truck suffered non-life threatening injuries in the crash that occurred Friday afternoon at the intersection of North King Street and Elm Street. Both drivers were taken to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, where the elderly man was pronounced dead.
Northwestern District Attorney’s office says there were no passengers in either vehicle.

An elderly man died Friday night after being hit by an SUV in north suburban Skokie.
Bond Yang, 89, was struck by the vehicle in the 8800 block of North Leclaire Avenue in Skokie, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Yang was pronounced dead at Evanston Hospital at 10:15 p.m., the medical examiner’s office said. His home address was not immediately available

An autopsy conducted Saturday determined Yang died from blunt head trauma as a result of being hit by the SUV and ruled his death an accident, the medical examiner’s office said.
A motorcyclist was struck and killed in North Hollywood Friday evening, authorities said.
The collision happened shortly after 6 p.m. near Valerio Street and Tujunga Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department North Hollywood Division.

Police say the victim, an elderly woman, was crossing the Parkway around 5:45 a.m. when she was struck. The driver, who police say had a green light, stayed on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Authorities say the victim was walking in an area where it is illegal to do so.
A Clarksville man was struck and killed by a tractor trailer Friday morning on State Route 76.
Clarksville police said 44-year-old Christopher Brian Johnson was hit about 7:15 a.m. between Fire Station Road and Huntco Drive.
Family members told investigators it was Johnson's normal routine to walk or ride a bicycle in the area for exercise.
Police said the truck driver was heading northeast toward Interstate 24 when the tractor trailer hit Johnson. Officials also have not released the name of the truck driver or the company for which he was driving.

Authorities believe the incident began Friday morning as a fight in East Liberty.
Police responded and chased a vehicle that fled that scene. The car eventually crashed and several people ran away.
The driver taken into custody has not been publicly identified. Police continue to search for the other people, some of whom may have been armed.
