Town of Evans authorities today were looking for the driver of a sport utility vehicle who drove off after fatally striking a man walking on Route 5 near Gold Street overnight. Police believe the victim, Barry Moss, 52, of the Town of Evans, was killed by a Ford SUV traveling west toward the Town of Brant sometime overnight. The driver fled after the accident, which occurred on a section of Route 5 known as Erie Road, police said. Moss’s body was found several hours later by a citizen who arrived at a nearby business at about 6 a.m., police said.
A 44-year-old Vancouver man was cited for driving while texting after he was involved in a Sunday afternoon accident. The Washington State Patrol said Paul B. Carr was westbound about 12:53 p.m. on state Highway 500 in a 1994 Nissan Sentra when his car collided with the back of a 2014 Chevrolet Spark driven by Rebecca M. Boshears, 24, of Lake Oswego, Ore. The collision at Stapleton Road pushed the Spark into a jersey barrier, the patrol said. Carr and Boshears were treated at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center and then released. Two of Boshears’ passengers also were taken to hospitals.
Two people were killed and three others were taken to the hospital after a horrific car crash in San Bernardino on Sunday. The accident happened in the 3500 block of Ridgeline Drive around 1 a.m., San Bernardino County Fire said. Three people were ejected from the car and two others were trapped inside after it went 150 yards down the side of a hill and ended up in a ravine, San Bernardino County Fire said. A man and a woman were pronounced dead at the scene. Firefighters found the other man who was ejected. He was immediately rescued and transported to the hospital.
