A Maddox Middle School eighth-grader died late Sunday night from injuries she sustained in an ATV crash earlier in the day. Gracie Abbott, 13, was airlifted to Children’s of Alabama in Birmingham after the accident, which happened near Old Glory Drive, just off Fall City Road. Abbott was driving the ATV but lost control and the vehicle flipped, throwing Abbott and two of her cousins from the vehicle, officials said. Abbott was airlifted to the hospital with a severe head injury, but efforts to revive her failed.

A Cullman man was killed in a wreck Friday morning just north of Jasper, according to Alabama State Troopers.

Jonathan Earl Kennedy, 26, was killed when the 2003 Nissan Sentra he was driving left the roadway on Russell Dairy Road five miles north of Jasper and hit a tree around 11:25 a.m., according to a news release from Trooper Curtis Summerville.

Kennedy was pronounced dead at the scene.

He was not wearing a seat belt, according to Summerville.

Alabama State Troopers are investigating the crash.

Authorities have identified the man who died in a three-vehicle wreck Saturday afternoon in Walker County. William Earl Lovelady, 71, of Dora, was pronounced dead at the scene. Lovelady was traveling westbound on Highway 78 when he lost control of his vehicle near Sharon Boulevard and crossed the median. He hit a guardrail and bounced back into oncoming traffic. His car was hit head-on by a semi-truck and then by a second vehicle. Dora police responded to the crash around 3:40 p.m. No other injuries were reported. The wreck remains under investigation.

In Walker County, a Hamilton woman was killed. Troopers said 71-year-old Mable Criddle was a passenger in a vehicle that also lost control on a wet road, overturned and struck a tree. That accident happened at 2:35 p.m. on Alabama 5, one mile north of Jasper. Criddle was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, troopers said
