Tuesday, April 28, 2015It was about 11:20 a.m. when police were called regarding a man who had been robbed at at North First Street. He said he was giving another man a ride from a motel in that area to one at Fruitvale Boulevard when he was held at gunpoint and told to return to the first hotel. The armed man then got into a car with three other people and drove away. Police spotted the suspect vehicle on North 16th Avenue and began pursuing it. Eventually the crash led to South Naches Road, where the suspect car crashed into another vehicle containing two women.

Wednesday, November 5, 2014A 27-year-old man was shot to death by a Yakima County sheriff’s deputy Wednesday afternoon following a high-speed chase that ended just west of the Yakima city limits. Shortly before 4:20 p.m., a deputy spotted a green Honda Civic driving east on U.S. Highway 12 that had been reported stolen. When the deputy attempted to pull over the car, it sped off, eventually reaching speeds of more than 100 mph. The Honda turned off the highway onto Ackley Road, and the car left the road, striking a fence.
