It was just before 3:00pm when Farris headed south on Highway 97, and as he got to the intersection with Larue Road, a van travelling east on it ran a stop sign and collided with his car. The van's driver, who has now been arrested and identified as Dominguez, fled the scene of the accident, and the state patrol has said that intoxicants were a factor in this accident. Farris was injured, but he has already been treated at the hospital and released. A third person, Santos Dominguez Alejo, 27, was a passenger in the van and was not injured.

Shortly before 3:00pm, three girls were walking home from elementary school and were struck by a car in a parking lot that did not stop to render aid. Two of the girls, who were ages 7 and 8, were hospitalized, though with non-life threatening injuries, while the third girl, age 10, was uninjured. Investigators are still searching for the driver responsible for this accident.
