A Clifton man died early Monday after he lost control of his car and it crashed in the Oakton area, Fairfax County police said.

Trung Hieu Tran, 24, was traveling east on Jermantown Road near Borge Street around 1:35 a.m. when he approached a curve, failed to negotiate it and then lost control of his Acura RSX Coupe, police said.

The car ran across a grass median and struck a tree, which caused the vehicle to spin and hit a second tree, police said. Tran was transported to a hospital, where he later died.

Speed appears to be a factor in the crash.
