A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle as he tried to direct traffic on Dixie Highway Monday night.

A Cemex employee was directing traffic near the 15300 block of Dixie Highway when he tried to stop traffic in the northbound lane and was struck by a pickup truck just before 8 p.m., a Louisville Metro Police spokesman said.

The man was wearing reflective clothing and holding a stop sign, Mitchell said. He died at the scene.

Police have not ruled out drugs or alcohol as a factor in the accident, Mitchell said.

A contracted security officer was rushed to the hospital after an accident involving a commercial truck.

The incident happened shortly before 10 a.m. Monday at Pier 39.

According to Honolulu police, the security guard got too close to the truck and was knocked to the ground. The 43-year-old woman was then run over.

"She was pinned. The lower portion of her body was pinned," said Honolulu police.

The woman was taken to the hospital, where she remains in serious, but stable condition.

Traffic on Nimitz Highway near Waiakamilo Road was not affected.

A 13-year-old boy was allegedly behind the wheel of a pick-up truck when it ran a stop sign in Echo Park and collided with a mail truck, ejecting the mail carrier and pinning her beneath her vehicle, authorities said.

The crash happened about 3:30 p.m. on Douglas Street near Bellevue Avenue.

The boy allegedly took the pick-up truck from his home, a spokesperson with the Los Angeles Police Department Central Traffic Division said.

N.O.P.D. says a man died and a woman was critically injured in a single car accident in the Desire neighborhood.

Police say a 47-year-old woman was driving eastbound on I-10 near the Louisa Street exit ramp at about 10:15 a.m. when she lost control of her vehicle and struck a metal light pole and a concrete guard barrier.

She was in critical condition, and a male passenger died at the hospital, according to police.

An investigation into the accident is ongoing.

Northeast District Buffalo Police Officer Ronald Ammerman suffered non-life threatening injuries about 8:30 a.m. Monday when his patrol car was T-boned by another car as he was responding to a 911 call on Bailey Avenue, authorities said.

Police accident investigators said the officer’s car was struck by a 2004 Mercedes Benz, which was making a left turn from LaSalle Avenue onto Bailey and failed to yield the right of way and struck the patrol vehicle. Ammerman was taken to Erie County Medical Center by Rural Metro ambulance and was being evaluated in the emergency room.

A MARTA handicapped van crashed on I-20 in DeKalb County late Monday morning, injuring the driver and a passenger.

The MARTA Mobility van was eastbound on I-20 past Flat Shoals Road around 10:30 a.m. when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle left the roadway, a MARTA spokesman stated.

The driver was ejected from the van, and was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, along with the sole passenger on board.

The conditions of the driver and passenger were not immediately available.

A former chief operating officer of the online file-sharing service Napster was killed when he was struck by a sheriff’s patrol car while riding a bicycle, authorities said Monday.

Lawyer and music industry veteran Milton Everett Olin Jr. of Woodland Hills died Sunday, according to the L.A. coroner’s office.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said Olin and the patrol car were traveling in the same direction on Mulholland Highway in suburban Calabasas when the collision occurred.

A Jemison man died Sunday in a single-vehicle crash in Chilton County.

The Alabama State Troopers identified the man as Jerry Davis, Jr., 34. He was killed when the 1998 Pontiac Firebird he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree.

The crash happened at 4:45 a.m. on Chilton County 28, two miles east of Clanton, according to troopers. Sgt. Steve Jarrett said a preliminary investigation indicates alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.

A man is dead after a crash in south Nashville on Monday morning.

Police say a 25-year-old driving a 2003 Buick Regal east on Paragon Mills Road lost control of his vehicle around 3 a.m.

Officials say the driver hit a sharp left curve near Aster Drive and didn't navigate around it in time. The car ran off the road, slammed into a bank of trees and burst into flames.

The driver died at the scene. The Medical Examiner's Office is working to identify him at this time.

A fatal crash involving a semi and a car has closed the eastbound lanes of Interstate 435 at N. Congress.
It happened just before 11 a.m. Monday. The driver of the car was killed in the crash.

No other injuries were reported.
Traffic is being diverted to Interstate 29.
