The National Weather Service says the bad weather brought down a power line in Kailua. It happened around 9:30 Sunday morning and a young man was injured. The 22-year-old saw his van on fire and tried to put the fire out. That's when trouble began. The quiet of a Sunday morning on Ohana Avenue was shattered when residents heard a loud explosion. A power line split both ends of the live wire which caused considerable damage. Fortunately, he was not. The young man was taken to Castle Medical Center in critical condition and was later transferred to Queen's.

Westbound lanes of Interstate 30 in Grand Prairie have reopened after a fiery semi crash closed several lanes overnight. The accident happened at about 12:30 a.m. Wednesday in the westbound lanes of I-30 a half mile east of MacArthur Boulevard. When Grand Prairie firefighters arrived on the scene an 18-wheeler was on fire. The driver was outside the big rig. Paramedics say he was alert and talking, he was taken to Methodist Hospital in Dallas for treatment.

A baby girl was killed in a fiery crash on a Westchester highway Tuesday morning when the vehicle she was in, driven by her father, slammed into a tree, police say. The 24-year-old father appeared to be speeding alongside another car on the Sprain Brook Parkway in Yonkers when he veered from the right lane across two lanes of traffic, went up an embankment and struck the tree shortly before 11:30 a.m., just south of the Jackson Avenue exit, Yonkers and state police said.

A woman was killed in a head-on crash in Southwest Portland Monday, police said. The crash occurred just before 3 p.m. at the intersection of Southwest Barbur Boulevard and Southwest Miles Street. Witnesses said the car caught fire after it collided head-on with a Portland Water Bureau truck. A Good Samaritan tried to pull the crash victim out of her burning car, but could not save her, authorities said. Police said the victim died at the scene, but they have not yet released her name. Firefighters were able to douse the flames as they spread along the nearby hillside.

A 57-year-old man from Empire died early Tuesday morning when his truck rolled on the shoulder of Interstate 70 and burst into flames, according to the Colorado State Patrol. The accident occurred just before 1 a.m. at mile marker 86, which is about 30 miles west of Glenwood Springs and five miles west of Rifle. The truck appears to have swerved for an unknown reason, driven off the right side of the highway, rolled and burst into flames according to the CSP. Both the vehicle and driver, who was ejected from the truck during the accident, were burned in the fire.
