Sunday, December 29, 2013Greensboro woman died from her injuries after she was hit by a car Monday night.
City police said Stephanie Raffensberger was hit while trying to cross East Cone Boulevard near Orange Street.
Authorities said she walked into the path of a vehicle traveling westbound.
Raffensberger, 47, died at Moses Cone Hospital.
The 21-year-old driver of the vehicle has not been charged.

Johnstown-Altoona, PAAuthorities in central Pennsylvania say a sport utility vehicle hit a utility pole and rolled over several times, killing two people.
Police in Blair County say they believe the crash happened at about 2:30 a.m. Monday on Old Route 220 in Newry, but it wasn't reported until about five hours later.
Chief Terry Dellinger of the Freedom Township police force said the SUV had been heading south when it went out of control and hit the pole.

Washington, DCA SUV that had been carjacked crashed into a Metrobus in Southwest Washington on Monday morning, officials say.
The crash happened near the intersection of Joliet Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue Soutwhest, MPD officials say, where a stopped A4 bus was hit by the fleeing vehicle.
A person is in custody, officials say.
Two bus riders claimed minor injuries. The driver of the Metrobus was not injured.

Baltimore, MDMaryland State Police say a man was killed and another man was hurt when a car and a box truck collided on Belair Road in Fallston.
It happened about 6:55 a.m. Monday.
Troopers say Austin Robert Lentz, 20, of Forest Hill was traveling north when his Mustang crossed the double yellow lines.
Police say Lentz’s car hit a truck driven by Donald Glen Ranger, 60, of Mount Wolf, Pa.
Lentz was pronounced dead at the scene. Ranger was taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore.
The crash is under investigation.

Washington, DCA man was killed in Franklin County when his car went airborne in a crash on Route 30, according to state police.
Pedro Ramirez Serrano, 30, of Fayetteville, was closely following another car "at a high rate of speed" around 5:35 p.m. Monday in the left westbound lane through Greene Township, according to state police news release.
Ramierez Serrano tried to pass the car, but clipped the passenger-side rear bumper, according to state police.
Ramirez Serrano's Nissan Rouge "went into the air and did a 180 degree turn," according to the news release.

Portland, ORPolice are investigating a fatal crash that killed one person on Oregon 6 early Monday.
The accident involving a single vehicle happened about 6:40 a.m. on Oregon 6 near Lee's Summit. A spokesman for Portland police, said that Hayla Cheryl Ann Ruhl, who was headed east, lost control while trying to pass two other vehicles. Her car crossed the westbound lane, struck a guardrail and went down an embankment where it overturned onto its top in a creek.
Firefighters had to use ropes to get to the car, located about 40 feet down from the roadway. Ruhl was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sunday, December 29, 2013A high-speed chase through some of the busiest streets of San Francisco ended in a crash, and the suspect was taken into custody.
It started when police stopped the suspect in the Bayview District. Police said the suspect was acting suspiciously as though in possession of a weapon or contraband, and took off.
Officers pursued the suspect on a high-speed chase through the Bayview, Taravel and Ingleside neighborhoods. At one point the suspect rammed a vehicle and almost hit a patrol car. Shots were fired, hitting the car but missing the suspect.

Columbus, OHA man was killed Monday night as a result of a crash on the far east side of Columbus.
According to Columbus police, the crash happened shortly before 8:30 p.m. Monday along Brice Road near Tussing Road.
According to investigators, 50-year-old Marcus A. Hughes, of Columbus, was trying to cross from the west side to the east side of Brice Road, when 57-year-old Gloria J. Hector, of Reynoldsburg, exited Interstate 70 eastbound and struck Hughes.
Witnesses told police that Hughes was then struck by other vehicles, after the initial crash.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Portland, ORA man cited on suspicision of driving under the influence of intoxicants ran a stop light and caused a three-vehicle crash Monday morning in Vancouver. Branden Clark Savage, 21, of Vancouver was driving a 1995 Toyota Camry south on Northeast 42nd Avenue about 4:15 a.m. when, troopers say, he ran the stop light at state Highway 500. Two westbound vehicles were involved in the crash. A 2005 Jeep Cherokee crashing into the Camry, and the Camry crashed into a 2005 Toyota RAV4.

Nashville, TNA late-night crash caused by a wrong-way driver killed one person on Monday night.
Police said the driver was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Eagle Way Bypass and hit two other cars head-on.
The passenger in the wrong-way car died at the scene, and three others were taken to the hospital.
Police have not identified any of the victims.
At this time, police are not sure why the driver was driving in the wrong lane.
