Two people are dead after a head-on collision on Highway 35 about two miles south of Stoddard near Riverview Court in the Town of Bergen, according to Vernon County Sheriff John Spears. Sheriff Spears said a northbound vehicle, driven by 70-year-old Robert M. Williams of Stoddard, went to pass a vehicle in front of him and struck a southbound vehicle, driven by 55-year-old Margaret L. Springborn of rural DeSoto. The crash happened at about 3:20 p.m. Springborn was transported to Gundersen Health System in La Crosse where she was later pronounced dead.

A Crystal Lake man was killed and another person was critically injured in a traffic crash involving three vehicles Monday evening in the northwest suburban. A four-door Toyota was headed south on Pyott Road from Rakow Road about 5:45 p.m. when it crossed into the northbound lane and collided head-on with a four-door Honda, according to a statement from Crystal Lake police. The force of the collision drove the Honda into a Chevy Tahoe that had been northbound on Pyott, police said. The driver of the Honda died at the scene, authorities said.

Four people were injured, one seriously, Saturday morning in a head-on collision on state Highway 12 caused by an allegedly drunk driver, Santa Rosa police said Saturday. The collision occurred just after 10:30 a.m. on Highway 12 at Melita Road, when an eastbound Ford Mustang crossed the center divider and struck a westbound Nissan Sentra head-on, according to police. The Sentra overturned and landed in the westbound lane with people trapped inside.

The N.C. Highway Patrol says three people are dead after a multi-car accident south of Whiteville. Troopers say a driver couldn't complete a pass in a no-passing zone on U.S. 701 Friday night and tried to get back into the lane. That car hit the fender of the vehicle in front of it, causing 78-year-old Furley James Brown to lose control of his car and crash into a third car head-on.

Two people were killed in a crash near 96th Street and Zionsville Road Tuesday afternoon. The crash happened around 1 p.m. Zionsville police say a Ford Explorer lost its right rear wheel due to lug nuts not being tightened, crossed the center line and struck another vehicle head-on. Police identified the victims as 30-year-old Mika Baird and 31-year-old Lesley Martinez, both of Indianapolis. The driver of the Chevy was not hurt. Investigators say everyone was wearing their seat belts.

One driver is dead and another driver is in critical condition after a head-on collision in Pleasure Ridge Park early Saturday morning. According to police, just after 2:30 a.m., a 31-year-old man driving a SUV on the wrong side of the Greenbelt Highway hit another SUV driven by a 17-year-old woman, later identified as Elissa Greenwell, heading south near the intersection with Greenwood Road. A spokeswoman for the Louisville Metro Police Department, said both drivers had to be extricated from their vehicles by Louisville Metro EMS and the Pleasure Ridge Park Fire Department.

Two people were injured Wednesday morning in a vehicle collision on Kentucky 141 in Union County. The Kentucky State Police said the accident occurred around 10 a.m. when Angela Oliver, 45, Clay, was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Blazer north on Kentucky 141. Authorities said Oliver drove off the shoulder of the road and lost control. The Blazer then traveled across the centerline striking a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Charles Humphrey 63, Sturgis, head-on. Officials said Humphrey had to be mechanically removed from the vehicle by Morganfield Rescue.

Ford was killed late Tuesday when his Ford Mustang was struck head-on by a driver traveling the wrong direction on U.S. 131. Ford was pronounced dead at the scene, while the driver of the vehicle that struck him, 29-year-old Jeremy Smeltzer, of Portage, was air-lifted from the crash site to Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo where he later died. The lone passenger in Ford’s vehicle during the night of the crash, Megan Covey, 26, of Wayland, is currently in “good” condition, according to Bronson Methodist Hospital.

A Louisiana man died Monday after a head-on collision in Creek County, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported. About 5:55 a.m., Tilman Palmer, 76, of Amite City, La., was driving a pickup southbound on State Highway 48 just south of Carson Ridge Road. A northbound pickup, driven by Russell Foutch, 47, of Cushing, crossed the center line and hit Palmer’s pickup, troopers said. Palmer died at the scene. Foutch was taken to a Tulsa hospital in serious condition. Neither man wore seat belts, troopers said.

A drunk, wrong-way driver did not stop until she caused a head-on collision Thursday morning. The accident occurred at the Downtown Connector ramp to I-20. The driver of the car, Monica Arrington, 38, went to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment of her injuries. Arrington was charged with DUI, reckless driving and driving on the wrong side of the road.
