Fire department members have found their former chief dead after a car accident in northern Iowa.

The crash occurred early Saturday on a rural highway west of Austinville in Butler County.

Officials say a car driven by 59-year-old Keith Oelmann ran off a bridge and rolled. The Aplington Fire Department responded to the accident call. The current chief says firefighters didn't realize their former chief was involved until they found his body.

The crash is being investigated.

A single vehicle rollover crash sent a Cedar Falls teen to the hospital Friday evening.

The Black Hawk County Sheriff's office says it happened around 4:30 p.m. about four miles west of Dunkerton on E. Dunkerton Road.

Investigators say 17-year-old Karlee Ann Johnson and two passengers were traveling westbound when Johnson lost control of her vehicle.

The vehicle ran off the north side of the road and rolled over into a farm field.

One person was killed following a single-vehicle accident Thursday morning in Keokuk County.

Shortly after 2:10 a.m. Thursday, emergency crews responded to the crash located along Highway 149, just north of Sigourney.

According to Keokuk County Sheriff’s Office, Melvin Dean Spoelstra, 44, of New Sharon,was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident is still under investigation.

A 57-year-old man has been found dead after an accident involving an all-terrain vehicle in eastern Iowa's Muscatine County. Authorities say sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a rural Letts property just before 9 p.m. Saturday. They found the body of 57-year-old Randy Tomfeld at the scene of the crash. The accident is being investigated.

Two people were taken to the hospital after a crash in Cedar Rapids Saturday afternoon. The Iowa State Patrol says the accident happened at the intersection of Highway 151 and Wright Brothers Boulevard around 3:45 p.m. Two cars were traveling on Highway 151 when they collided. Officials say 31-year-old John Morris of Marengo failed to stop on the highway and ran into a car driven by 71-year-old Rose Pudil of Swisher. Both Morris and Pudil were taken to Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids with injuries. The Iowa State Patrol is still investigating the crash.

An Iowa State Patrol trooper suffered what appear to be minor injuries when his squad car was struck while he was investigating a crash on Interstate 80 Friday morning. Sgt. Sharon Kurt said the trooper, who is not yet being identified, was investigating a crash that had occurred on Interstate 80 near Oxford around 6:40 a.m. The trooper was sitting in his car and set to begin the investigation on the initial crash when his squad car was hit by a pickup that had been hit by a semi-trailer truck.

An Anamosa teenager is recovering from a two vehicle crash in rural Linn County.

The Linn County Sheriff's Office says the crash happened near the intersection of Highway 151 and Carlton Road near Springville around 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

A car driven by 36-year-old Jean Milburn of Marion rear-ended another car while driving west on Highway 151. A passenger in that car, 18-year-old Destiny Ahrendsen of Anamosa was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A Waterloo crash killed a Garwin man and injured another.

Emergency workers rushed to the intersection of West 6th Street and Commercial Street at about 1:30 p.m. Sunday.

Scott Thomson, 55, of Garwin turned into the path of 34-year-old Tavious Jenkins' pick-up. The pick-up pushed Thomson's vehicle into a utility pole.

The crash killed Thomson and left Jenkins with minor injuries.

Investigators are still looking into the cause.

Authorities closed Interstate 29 in western Iowa after a truck veered off the freeway and caught fire.

The driver of the truck was found dead, but it's possible he had a medical condition that led to the Thursday morning crash.

The Woodbury County Sheriff's Office says the incident happened when the truck, which was hauling a trailer filled with hamburger, veered off I-29 near Salix, south of Sioux City.

The truck crossed a shallow ditch, came to rest in trees and caught fire.

A crash involving at least 5 vehicles slowed down traffic in Waterloo Monday morning.

Waterloo Police say the accident happened on the Highway 218 overpass over W 4th Street around 6:40 Monday morning.

Police say no one was injured in the crash. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
