A Holton man was killed Monday night after the tractor he was operating rolled down a terrace north of town, Jackson County Sheriff Tim Morse said.

Officials received a report of a tractor accident about 8:55 p.m. Monday night at 27234 P. Road, Morse said.

He identified the man Tuesday as Alan H. Schlodder, 64.

Morse said a family member found Schlodder, who had suffered fatal injuries from the accident, and contacted authorities.

One person was killed in an accident early Saturday on the Kansas Turnpike, officials said.

A semi-trailer, driven by Sergiy Angelchev, 30, crashed into a toll booth on the westbound lane of I-70 near milepost 217 near Bonner Springs, officials said.

Sergiy Angelchev dead at the scene and another person was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Two people are dead after an early morning crossover crash that happened around 1:20 Thursday morning along K-10 near Kill Creek Road. A 45-year-old Kansas City, Mo., driver, traveling east on K-10, lost control of his pickup truck and crashed into a Toyota Camry driven by a 20-year-old man from Kansas City, Kan. Both men were pronounced dead when Johnson County Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene.

Sheriff Deputies from Miami County have arrested a man they believe is responsible for stealing two vehicles then crashing one in a rural area. Undersheriff Wayne Minckley said the suspect stole a car from a home in Johnson County, Kan. The suspect then ditched that car in Miami County and stole a second car near 255th Street and Metcalf. The residents heard the commotion of a thief stealing their car and called authorities. While running away from deputies, the suspect crashed near 223rd and Metcalf.
