Police responded to Whitney Avenue at Michigan Street after a report of a 13-year-old who was hit while riding his bicycle.

Police say the minivan was heading north on Whitney Avenue when the teen rode out into the street. The boy said he did not look both ways before crossing the street. Police say the driver tried to stop, but couldn't in time.

Police say the child is responsive, but suffered a broken leg, broken arm, and some scratches and bumps on the head.

Emergency responders were called to the scene of a second JCPS bus crash Friday morning. One Waggener High School student was transported to a hospital, complaining of a neck injury after bus #0690 was sideswiped by a car at Shelbyville Road and Bramton Road around 6:30 a.m. The other 25 people aboard the bus refused treatment. Another JCPS bus crash around the same time Friday morning sent a handful of children to Kosair Children's Hospital with bumps and bruises.

A multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 71 south has resulted in a headache for drivers trying to get into Louisville.

The Oldham County Police Department said the accident was reported at 9:26 a.m. at the 12.5 mile marker, just north of the Oldham County/Jefferson County line.

A news release from Greenup County Sheriff Keith M. Cooper said the crash Sunday afternoon involved two vehicles. The dead were identified as 43-year-old Tracie R. Howard of Portsmouth, Ohio; 22-year-old Ruby M. Brown of South Shore; and 30-year-old Jamond M. Buford of Ashland.

The release said a fourth person, 33-year-old Joshua D. Bowling of Flatwoods, was hospitalized and in very serious condition Monday.

The crash happened on U.S. 23 in Greenup.

The Independent of Ashland said the northbound lanes of the highway were closed for about four hours.

A Covington man died late Sunday in a crash on Interstate 75.

Williamstown police said Joseph Lorenz's car ran into the back of a tractor-trailer that had slowed in Sunday's snow.

Lorenz, 23, was pronounced dead a short time later.

The crash remains under investigation.

One person died and two others were taken to the hospital after a three-vehicle collision in Boone County Sunday.

Crews were sent to the intersection of U.S. 25 and Frogtown Road around 7 a.m.

According to police, a vehicle driven by Bobby Jones, 26, was northbound on U.S. 25 approaching Frogtown Road traveling in the southbound lane.

Another vehicle, driven by Richard Taylor, 27, was southbound on U.S. 25 approaching Frogtown Road when he veered left in an attempt to avoid a collision with Jones.

Police are investigating a collision involving a train and vehicle in Richwood. Officers were sent to the 11000 block of Old Lexington Pike around 1:15 p.m. Sunday. According to police, Melissa Hemingway, 44, drove her vehicle approximately half a mile southbound on the tracks before colliding with an oncoming northbound Norfolk Southern train. The train, estimated to be traveling at 25 mph, went into full emergency brake mode but still pushed the car back 215 yards, officials said. Authorities said Hemingway was taken to the UC Medical Center for non-life-threatening injuries.

One man is dead after his car crashed into two utility poles.

According to police, a single vehicle accident happened on Dorsey Lane near Ward Avenue Saturday night around 10:50. The driver of a Toyota Tacoma pickup was traveling northbound on Dorsey Lane, lost control in a curve at the intersection and hit a utility pole.

The truck then rotated and slid into the easement striking a second utility pole. The truck flipped on its side and stopped.

A male driver, in his mid-30s, was the only occupant.

According to police, a single vehicle accident happened on Dorsey Lane near Ward Avenue Saturday night around 10:50. The driver of a Toyota Tacoma pickup was traveling northbound on Dorsey Lane, lost control in a curve at the intersection and hit a utility pole. The truck then rotated and slid into the easement striking a second utility pole. The truck flipped on its side and stopped. LG&E arrived on scene to cut the power lines before the driver could be pulled from the truck.

Eleven students on the bus were transported to Jewish Hospital South and released after a wreck that occured at about 6:30 a.m. at Preston Highway and Belmont Road just east of Fort Knox. An 86-year-old man drove into the back of a school bus that had stop to pick up students in Bullitt County. The man later died of his injuries. None of the students suffered serious injuries.
