The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s department says 79-year-old Paul Raymond Maddex died Monday after the motorcycle he was riding went off the road and into a ditch on Connoisarally Road in the Town of East Otto.

Sheriff deputies found Maddex unresponsive and not breathing. Medical personnel from the East Otto Fire Department and Rural Metro ambulance performed CPR and transported him to Bertrand Chaffee Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Suffolk County Police Fifth Squad detectives are investigating a crash that killed a Patchogue man last evening.

Timothy Miller, 39, was crossing North Ocean Avenue, just south of Peconic Street, in Holtsville, when he was struck by a 2013 Nissan Sentra that was driven by Molly Silvestre, 20, of Selden, at 10:03 p.m.

Miller, of Patchogue, was treated at the scene by members of the Holtsville Fire Department and transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where he was being treated for head and chest injuries. He later died at the hospital.

A 32-year-old woman is facing charges after police say she drove the wrong way down a Long Island street and struck another vehicle, killing a passenger in that car, and then fled the scene. The incident happened just after 4:40 a.m. Monday on Greenwich Avenue in Hempstead. According to detectives, Gregoria Canales-Bonilla was operating a 2000 Ford Explorer when she crossed over the double yellow line, striking a 2008 Ford. A 24-year-old male passenger in the backseat suffered fatal injuries as a result of the accident.

Police identified the woman struck while crossing Camp Road in Hamburg Monday night as Jacqueline Dotzler of Batavia. She is in critical condition at Erie County Medical Center. Dotzler was struck by a car in the southbound lane of Camp Road about 9:30 p.m. Monday and was taken to ECMC with what police described as “very serious” injuries, including a head injury. The southbound lanes of Camp Road remained closed to traffic south of Southwestern Boulevard while police investigated the accident.
