A motorist who struck a 17-year-old student on 58th Avenue at 6:30 a.m. Thursday has been cited for failing to stop for a school bus, according to a Indian River County Sheriff’s spokesman. The bus was stopped and its lights were on and a sign was out when the student was attempting to cross 58th Avenue, at 42nd Street, to get to the bus, police said. Emergency officials said the female student was talking before she was taken to the trauma center at the Lawnwood Regional Medical Center & Heart Institute, Fort Pierce, emergency officials said.
