Two teens were injured when a school bus they were riding drove off a road, striking a tree. The accident reportedly occured near Dagget Road and Tamarack Road, northwest of Howard City. The exact conditions of the students have not been released, but the injuries were not considered life-threatening. The students were an 11th-grade girl and an 8th-grade boy, and their names have not yet been released. Weather conditions are considered a contributing factor in this accident.
A Demps Christian Child Care day care bus was involved in an accident that injured one child. The van had one adult and nine children in it at the time of the crash. No one in the van was injured, but a child from the other vehicle involved in the crash sustained non-life threatening injuries. More information pending.
Two buses crashed on Highway 26 when one bus stopped to let off children and the bus traveling behind it rear-ended it. As many as 30 children were injured in the crash. At least some of the injuries are reported to be serious. The cause of the crash is not currently known. More information posted as it is released.
John Lutsch had stopped the bus in the left turn lane on Oakleaf Plantation Parkway when he started to back up. The end of the bus collided with the front of a pickup that was also in the lane. Lutsch said he did not see the pickup, and was trying to get out of the turn lane. The driver of the pickup, Thomas Mitchell, suffered minor injuries, and there were no children on the school bus at the time.
