One man is dead and another critically injured after a semi-truck carrying a load of pavers veered across three lanes of traffic and rear-ended four vehicles, causing one of them to burst into flames on northbound I-17 in Phoenix 6:45 a.m. Wednesday. A motorcyclist was killed after a collision with a semi at a Phoenix intersection early Friday morning, a Phoenix police spokesman said.
The collision happened about 5 a.m. at the intersection of 27th Avenue and Durango Street.
Phoenix police said the tractor-trailer was making a left turn onto 27th Avenue when it was struck by an eastbound Yamaha motorcycle, said Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos.
The motorcyclist was taken to a Phoenix hospital, where he later died of his injuries, Martos said.
The northbound lanes of Interstate 17 near Anthem were closed Monday morning after an SUV drove the wrong direction on the freeway and crashed into a produce truck, according to the Arizona Department of Public Safety.
The collision killed the driver of the SUV.
The 35-year-old male driver from Anthem entered the northbound lanes of the freeway and crashed into the semi-truck just before 12 a.m. Monday, according to a DPS spokesman.
